An honest breakdown of modular kitchen prices in Goa, what drives the cost up or down, and where it is worth spending more.
Most modular kitchens in Goa land between ₹3.5 lakh and ₹15 lakh. That is a wide band, and the spread is not about anyone overcharging. It is about size, hardware and finish, in that order.
A compact apartment kitchen with laminate shutters and dependable runners starts around ₹3.5 lakh. The same kitchen in acrylic with Blum motion hardware and a quartz worktop can comfortably reach three times that.
Carcass material comes first. Marine ply handles Goan humidity far better than cheaper boards, and in a coastal climate that is not a luxury, it is basic protection for your investment.
Hardware comes second, and it is the part people underestimate. Hinges and drawer runners get used ten or more times a day for a decade. The difference between a value runner and a Blum one is something you feel every single morning.
Finish comes third. Laminate is durable and affordable. Acrylic gives you a high-gloss, seamless look. PU gives a smooth matte finish that photographs beautifully but asks for more care.
Spend on the carcass, the hardware and the worktop. These are the parts that either last or fail, and replacing them later means dismantling the kitchen.
Save on decorative elements in dry, low-traffic zones. A well-chosen laminate on an upper cabinet does the same visual job as a far more expensive finish, and nobody touches it ten times a day.
Ask for an itemised quotation. If a quote is one lump sum, you cannot tell whether the hardware is premium or basic, and that is exactly where costs get hidden.
Then compare like with like. The same layout quoted with different hardware brands is not the same kitchen, even when the drawings look identical.
The fastest way to understand the difference is to open the drawers yourself. That is what our experience centre in Mapusa is for.
